About

Mears Construction & Training (MCT) performs all work duties to the highest standards. An accomplished metal manufacturer, safety equipment trainer, assessor and inspector/certifier, MCT is dedicated to the safe functioning of products and compliant performance of staff.

As a trainer and nationally accredited assessor of Certificates of Competency, we provide certified and non-certified training for many industries and roles. Our courses are lead by licensed trainers using specialist equipment.

We operate a fully equipped workshop to provide technical solutions for your fabrication, steel manufacture and onsite and offsite welding needs. MCT organises heavy lifts and high risk activities in a safe and efficient manner.

Critical to our success is the quality of our people. Our team consists of professional personnel who are trained and skilled in their roles, enthusiastic about their job, considerate of others and who have the self-discipline to achieve consistently high standards of safety at work.

Owned and operated by the Mears family, MCT's Gordon Mears has more than 30 years' industry experience.

Company History

Established in 1994, we are a locally owned and operated family construction and training business in South Johnstone, servicing Queensland's Tropical North Coast, Tablelands, the Gulf and western districts.

Starting out as a home-based business, we relocated to larger premises in Hynes Street due to continued growth. Further progress saw us maintain the Hynes Street address for training, while taking over a property down the street for manufacturing.

In 2011 when Cyclone Yasi hit Cardwell/Tully, necessary equipment was mobilised from our South Johnstone workshop to help clean up the damaged areas.

Our Aim

MCT's aim is to supply excellent services and products to our clients and customers. We realise that satisfying the individual needs of our clients is paramount to continued success for our business.

Our services and products are constantly upgraded to meet our customers' needs.
